In approximately one hour, the caucuses will be open for business. Are you planning on going? They are expecting over 250,000 people tonight. I have only attended one within the last ten years. Thus, it's time to go once again. I feel privileged to have this great opportunity.
It's hard to believe all the attention and hype it is attracting. Why is Iowa so important? One of the big reasons is that since 1972 if you haven't finished in the top three in Iowa you haven't been elected as President of the United States.
In just a few hours we'll know the results.

I have a memory of an election day here in Tulsa in 2000.
You, Johnny, and myself went out for dinner and came across Steve Largent and his family eating in a restaurant. He was running for a congressional seat.
You ran to his table and said "I VOTED TODAY!" No "Hello". No "How are you doing?" He seemed a little surprised. He did turn out to be a very nice man.
We went tonight and I was totally shocked by the turn out! The last caucus I went to was in marshaltown and there was about 12 people. I counted well over 550 tonight!
