Stop the music!!!

Does anyone have good...no GREAT recommendations on children's music? Due to some long car rides recently, we are in need of something new and interesting. Also, preferably something not only for the little one but for the parents, (is that even possible?!). John and I may lose it if we hear one more, "Who did, who did, who did, who did, who did swallow Jo, Jo, Jonah...etc." My dear mother just bought us a Raffi CD and a generic set of classics for kids. We are really excited to listen to something new for a change. I'd also like to check out Jack Johnson's cd for kids.

I love the "Hide Em in Your Heart"'s by Steve Green. It's Scripture verses. And I find them to really bless me, not just the kids. (I know you've heard these right?)
"They Might be Giants" were a recommendation from the Humphreys. We have ABC's DVD - the kids love it. I want to get a cd for the car, also because the music it really fun for all.
A lot of ppl. like Cedermont Kids, but I find them a tad on the boring side and they only sing melody - no harmonizing...
I'd love to hear other's suggestions!

On the site is says it is for ages 7 and up, but Megan loves it too!

I have heard really good things about Andrew Petersons kids music. We were given one as a gift, but haven't opened it yet because of our kitchen remodel. (the cd player is attached to the cabinet) I should put it in our car.

I too love Steve Green. Also we have a couple WOW Worship for kids. They are great. My kids are older, but we do mostly adult stuff, casting crowns, etc. They just sing right along.

Hi Kari!
Really missed seeing you last week! Great question!

Non christian: Harry Connick Jr, Songs I Heard (has songs from Willie Wonka, Sound of Music, Annie, Mary Poppins etc)

Christian: Very, Very Big God
If you give me your e-mail address I will send you the link to the website. You have to order it from Australia! But it is SO good. A friend recommended it to me. It's from Matthias Media if you want to do a google search. She sent me the link and I will forward it to you.

Bella's current request whenever we are in the car is "La la"- Crocodile Rock by Elton John. She sings along!

I hesitate to unleash this on you, but my kids adore the Sandra Boynton cds. Ok, I have to confess that the first time I listened to them I nearly drove off the road because tears of laughter were obscuring my vision. So you and John should enjoy them the first 17,000 times. After that it gets iffie. Oh, and they come with great picture books. You can get them at Borders, in the kids books.

We love Buddy Davis - his songs are fun and the kids learn alot about God's creation!

Yeah, we like "They Might Be Giants." Their "No" CD is really great. I agree about the soundtracks, too.

Oh, I am so glad you posted about this! We have the same problem, always listening to kids music, and it is driving me crazy. For a while it didn't bother me, and I can tune it out most of the time, but it would be nice to have something new. Looks like you got a lot of great suggestions. Will you let me know what you get and if you like it??

Thanks for all the great suggestions! I'm really excited to try a few or all. We actually do have the Rhinoceros Tap by Sandra Boynton and E LOVES it. Its also one that we enjoy and laugh over. Really cute lyrics.
I'm also trying to get my mom to convert all her tapes to cd's for me. She has a bunch of the oldies that we grew up with and loved. They will certainly bring back good memories.
